Strontium-Doped Hematite as a Possible Humidity Sensing Material for Soil Water Content Determination
The aim of this work is to study the sensing behavior of Sr-doped hematite for soil water content measurement. The material was prepared by solid state reaction from commercial hematite and strontium carbonate heat treated at 900 °C. X-Ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and mercury intrusion porosimetry were used for microstructural characterization of the synthesized powder. Sensors...
متن کاملA polyelectrolyte as humidity sensing material: influence of the preparation parameters on its sensing property
The kinetic behaviour of humidity sensors based on a cross-linked interpenetrated polyelectrolyte was investigated. Various parameters were changed in order to study their effect on the response to a humidity variation. The influence of the way of preparation of the polymer and of the sensing layer thickness are reported and discussed.
متن کاملCertified Reference Material to Water Content Determination in Bioethanol Fuel
Bioethanol is a strategic biofuel in Brazil. Thus, a strong metrological basis for its measurements is required to ensure the quality and promote its exportation. Recently, Inmetro certified a reference material for water content in bioethanol. This paper presents the results of these studies. The characterization, homogeneity, short-term stability and long-term stability uncertainty contributi...
متن کاملW-doped nanoporous TiO2 for high performances sensing material toward acetone gas
W-doped TiO2 with nanoporous structure was synthesized by a one-step low temperature hydrothermal method using TiOSO4 and (NH4)6H2W12O40•xH2O as titanium and tungsten sources. Structure, morphology, specific surface area and chemical state of samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). W-doped nanoporo...
متن کاملA New Method for Sensing Soil Water Content in Green Roofs Using Plant Microbial Fuel Cells
Green roofs have many benefits, but in countries with semiarid climates the amount of water needed for irrigation is a limiting factor for their maintenance. The use of drought-tolerant plants such as Sedum species, reduces the water requirements in the dry season, but, even so, in semiarid environments these can reach up to 60 L m-2 per day. Continuous substrate/soil water content monitoring w...
